At Ace Hardware, direct mail was the backbone of many programs, including Ace Rewards and monthly targeted mailers that capitalized on information gained from previous purchases. Every month, a new round of mailers went out with themes ranging from power tools and grilling to backyard birders. For me it was a chance to speak the language of the target, with deep dives for tips and product copy designed to tantalize and stimulate purchases.
